Application Notes
Conductive shielding paints are the most common structural solution against high-frequency (HF) sources such as mobile base stations, 5G, Wi-Fi and radar, and against low-frequency (LF) electric fields originating from building wiring. All YSHIELD paints are water-based and free of solvents and plasticisers, and their production is audited by TÜV-SÜD. After application the surface must be grounded and can then be finished with any water-based interior or exterior paint of your choice.
Grounding is mandatory: Conductive shielding paints only protect against low-frequency electric fields and meet electrical-safety requirements when installed together with suitable grounding components. Let us plan the right grounding set for your project — Grounding Systems.

Installation and Application
- Surface preparation: the surface must be dry, clean and sound; absorbent surfaces are primed with GK5 primer concentrate.
- Application: the paint is applied by roller in one or two coats (depending on the target attenuation). One litre covers roughly 7.5 m²; continuity must be maintained at corners and transitions.
- Grounding: the dried film is conductive; grounding with GS-series plates, connected by a licensed electrician, is mandatory.
- Top coat: it is covered with any water-based interior/exterior paint of your choice; the shielding performance is unaffected.
- On surfaces at risk of cracking, AF3 carbon-fibre additive is mixed into the paint to preserve electrical continuity.
Care and Service Life
Once dried, the shielding film needs no maintenance; the decorative paint on top can be renewed as usual. Where holes have to be drilled in the wall (hooks, shelves), small holes have no practical effect on performance; in larger renovations, cut areas should be bridged with HNX tape or a touch-up of shielding paint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I apply one coat or two?
It depends on the measured field strength: for moderate sources one coat (46 dB with HSF54) is usually enough; with high exposure or a low target value, two coats (53 dB) are recommended. We settle this together at the survey stage.
What paint goes on top — does the colour change?
The shielding paint is a black intermediate layer; it is covered with any brand of water-based interior/exterior paint, in the colour of your choice. Two finishing coats are usually enough to hide the dark colour.
What happens if it is not grounded?
The high-frequency attenuation is largely retained, but there is no protection against low-frequency electric fields and the electrical-safety requirement is not met. That is why grounding is mandatory.
What about the windows?
Paint shields only opaque surfaces. The system must be completed with RDF window films or shielding net curtains for the glazing; otherwise the waves keep coming in through the glass.

Products are delivered in the original YSHIELD packaging, with the manufacturer's warranty, by insured shipping throughout Türkiye. Products sold by the metre are cut to the length you order; for project-based orders the delivery schedule is settled at the survey.
