Application Notes

Low-frequency magnetic fields (transformer stations, high-voltage lines, main supply cables, rail systems) cannot be stopped by ordinary conductive materials; they require special alloys with high magnetic permeability. YSHIELD's cobalt-free M-series foils and plates attenuate magnetic fields in building and vehicle applications; protection increases with the number of layers.

Important: Magnetic field shielding is an engineering task that is highly sensitive to the source and the geometry. For this product group we recommend planning the solution as a turn-key project.

Installation and Application

Magnetic shielding is directional: the foil/plate is placed between the source and the area to be protected, according to the field map.
M6L foils are cut from the roll and mounted on the surface with screw or profile systems; attenuation rises with the number of layers (1-4 layers).
Plates (M6L-64/85) are screwed directly in front of point sources; M2A is installed with its aluminium face towards the high-frequency side.
Wear gloves when handling cut edges and protect the foils from sharp bending; where necessary, pieces are laid with overlaps.

Care and Service Life

The material is corrosion-resistant and needs no maintenance behind a closed surface. Since mechanical impact and sharp bending can reduce magnetic permeability, a protective covering is recommended for exposed installations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Doesn't ordinary shielding paint stop magnetic fields?

No. Low-frequency magnetic fields pass through conductive layers largely unaffected; only special high-permeability alloys (mu-metal-like) weaken the field by redirecting it through themselves.

How many layers of foil are needed?

M6L-9X provides about 20 dB in a single layer and 33 dB in four. The number of layers required depends on the source strength and the target value; it is calculated from measurement/survey data.

There is a transformer under my building — what should I do?

First the field distribution must be established (you can measure it yourself with a meter, or we can plan it in a survey meeting), then a layered M-series solution is designed for the floor/walls. This group is an engineering job that needs to be handled turn-key.

Does distance help?

Yes — a magnetic field drops quickly with distance from the source. Moving the bed or the desk a few metres away from the source is usually the first and cheapest measure.

Products are delivered in the original YSHIELD packaging, with the manufacturer's warranty, by insured shipping throughout Türkiye. Products sold by the metre are cut to the length you order; for project-based orders the delivery schedule is settled at the survey.
