Application Notes

Shielding fabrics provide flexible protection in curtains, bed canopies, bedspreads, clothing and technical applications. YSHIELD is the world's largest Swiss Shield® distributor and also weaves its own range of fabrics with silver and stainless-steel yarns. All fabrics are sold by the metre; attenuation values are based on the manufacturer's measurement reports at 1 GHz.

Which fabric? For curtains and canopies we recommend the translucent nets (VOILE, SILVER-TULLE, NEW-DAYLITE); for clothing and bed linen the cotton weaves (WEAR, BLACK-JERSEY, STEEL-GRAY); and wherever low-frequency electric fields also need to be shielded, the groundable HF+LF fabrics (NATURELL-ULTRA, EVOLUTION-ULTRA and all YSHIELD fabrics). Installation and Application

Curtain use: the fabric is sewn and hung like a standard curtain; for effective protection it is important to measure so that it overlaps the window by 15-20 cm on every side.
Groundable (HF+LF) fabrics can be earthed with GCS/GCM/GCV connectors and GL cables; in fixed installations the ground connection must be made by an electrician.
Cutting and sewing: the fabrics sew on normal machines; to keep the conductive threads continuous, conductive accessories such as the ZIP zipper and HAL hook-and-loop tape can be used at seams.

Care and Service Life

To preserve the fabrics' attenuation, washing only with TEXCARE special detergent, on a low spin cycle at 30°C, is recommended. Bleach, enzyme detergents and dry cleaning (unless stated on the label) wear down the conductive threads. Iron without steam at low temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it really work as a curtain?

Yes — the window is the main entry path for the waves, and a net curtain in the 38-48 dB class can attenuate up to 99.98% of the power coming through the glass. When closed, the curtain must cover the window completely.

Which fabric is right for me?

For those who want light, sheer fabrics such as VOILE/NATURELL; for opaque curtains, ULTIMA/SILVER-TWIN; for garments, WEAR/BLACK-JERSEY; and if low frequency is also needed, groundable HF+LF fabrics. If undecided, contact us for a sample card.

Does washing reduce performance?

With correct washing in TEXCARE, the manufacturer states that performance is retained for up to dozens of washes depending on the fabric; the wrong detergent and high temperatures cause permanent loss.

What is the difference between Swiss Shield and YSHIELD fabrics?

Swiss Shield fabrics are weaves with copper/silver threads and are mostly for high frequency only; YSHIELD's own fabrics can additionally be grounded and also shield low-frequency electric fields.

Products are delivered in the original YSHIELD packaging, with the manufacturer's warranty, by insured shipping throughout Türkiye. Products sold by the metre are cut to the length you order; for project-based orders the delivery schedule is settled at the survey.
